Cat and Dog Vaccinations in Pasadena, TX
Dog and cat vaccinations are a critical component of your pet’s overall wellness care, as they aid in the prevention of several serious and even potentially fatal illnesses. The veterinary team at Angel Animal Hospital in Pasadena, recommends that you have your four-legged friend vaccinated on a regular basis for the best protective results. With regular pet vaccinations, your pet can live a longer, healthier life. To schedule your pet’s next vaccination appointment, give us a call at (713) 944-2424 or make an appointment online.
Since there are different vaccine types and combinations for different diseases, vaccination schedules are tailored to each pet’s specific age, species, and lifestyle. We can customize a schedule for your pet using core and non-core vaccines during his/her wellness exam. Core pet vaccines are required for all dogs and cats, regardless of lifestyle. Non-core vaccines are recommended for only certain pets and are dependent on the pets’ exposure risk to a specific disease.
How Do Pet Vaccines Work?
Just like a vaccine made for humans, a pet vaccine is designed to prepare the body’s immune system to combat disease-causing organisms. Each vaccine contains antigens that mimic a specific dangerous organism in the body, but without actually causing an illness. Once the vaccine enters the body, the immune system builds up antibodies to fight off the organisms. As a result, if a pet is ever exposed to the real disease, its immune system will be equipped to completely fight it off or minimize its effects on the body.
