Cat and Dog Vaccinations in Pasadena, TX
Cat and dog vaccinations are an important part of your pet’s ongoing wellness care. Vaccines help protect dogs and cats from several serious and potentially fatal illnesses, giving them a stronger defense against diseases they may encounter throughout life. The veterinary team at Angel Animal Hospital recommends keeping your pet vaccinated on a regular schedule for the best protection.

When Does My Pet Need Vaccinations?
Because every pet is different, vaccination schedules are tailored to your pet’s specific age, species, health history, and lifestyle. Puppies and kittens typically need a series of vaccines early in life to help build protection as their immune systems develop. Adult dogs and cats also need routine vaccine boosters to maintain protection over time.
During your pet’s wellness exam, we can customize a vaccine schedule using core and non-core vaccines. Core pet vaccines are recommended for all dogs and cats, regardless of lifestyle. Non-core vaccines are recommended for certain pets based on their exposure risk to specific diseases, such as travel, boarding, grooming, time outdoors, or exposure to other animals.
How Do Pet Vaccines Work?
Just like vaccines made for humans, pet vaccines are designed to prepare the body’s immune system to recognize and respond to disease-causing organisms. Each vaccine contains antigens that mimic a specific organism in the body without causing the illness itself.
Once the vaccine enters the body, the immune system begins building antibodies to help fight off that organism. If your pet is ever exposed to the real disease, their immune system will be better prepared to fight it off or reduce its effects on the body.
